Criteria for participation: University degree in medicine, dentistry, nursing, or Master’s degree in other fields and/or postgraduate research fellows (PhD students and research-year medical students). It is a prerequisite for participants to know elementary Windows or Mac functions for handling files and folders.
Aim: Introduction to the statistical package: Stata, and its use in a well-structured and fully documented data handling process. It is highly recommended to take the course before the course in basic biostatistics.
Learning outcomes: Having completed this course the student will be able to:
Relate to the basic principles of data documentation
Relate to Stata’s user-interface and basic functionalities
Use Stata’s build-in help system
Build well-structured command-files (“do-files”)
Setup the creation of log-files
Content: This two-day course alternates between lectures and exercise work.
Recommended knowledge for participation: It is recommended before course start to acquire the book: Juul S: An Introduction to Stata for Health researchers. College Station: Stata Press, 2011. On purchasing Stata and the book by S Juul see pH.au.dk/uddannelse/software
